Mortifying the Flesh, Part 3 - Colossians 3:9-11.  In this sermon Pastor Harris examines the radical change that occurs at salvation with the death of the old man and the coming of the new man. This radical change is the basis for the believer's fight against sin and longing for holiness. It is also the basis of an identification with Christ that supplants identification with all other groups so that all forms of prejudice can be eliminated.

The Superiority of Jesus to Religion - Colossians 2:29-23.  Legalism, mysticism, ritualism and asceticism all have a veneer of wisdom in combating the flesh and attaining holiness, but all fail for the same reason. Paul's Desire & Struggle - Colossians 2:1-5. In this sermon Pastor Harris gives further explanation of Paul's goal for his own life and ministry. Paul labored intensely on behalf of people he had never met because of His love for Christ and His followers. That is a mark of maturity that should be developed in every believer. He wanted to encourage them in the truth so they would be able to withstand the false doctrines that were being proclaimed.

Paul: A Servant of the Gospel - Colossians 1:24-29. Though Paul was an apostle, he saw himself as a servant of the gospel and the church in a stewardship entrusted to him by God. Because of that he was able to rejoice even in the midst of suffering. God has revealed the mystery of salvation by faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Though the gospel is openly proclaimed, only the saints will respond because the unrighteous refuse to believe it.

Tickets to Heaven: The Errors of Market Based Theology    As long as the purpose of the church remains making disciples of Jesus Christ and its focus with unbelievers is proclaiming the gospel, there are many things that can be very helpful that have come from the Church Growth Movement. However, when attracting numbers crowds becomes the purpose and the gospel is toned down to avoid offense of the unbeliever, those same principles are detrimental. The change from being God centered to man centered changes the church into just a religious social organization.
