Spiritual Warfare, Part 1: The Nature of the Battle - Ephesians 6:10-11. Pastor Scott L. Harris. Grace Bible Church. An introduction to the topic of spiritual warfare and its nature. There are many lies and distortions presented by secular media and false religions, but even within evangelical churches there are misconceptions that are contrary to what the Scriptures actually teach. Pastor Harris points out some of these and then begins to lay the foundation of a Biblical understanding by examining Ephesians 6:10-12. 

Being Edifying - 1 Corinthians 14.  Pastor Scott L. Harris. Grace Bible Church, Wappingers Falls, NY.  In this sermon Pastor Harris puts 1 Corinthians 14 back into its context of correcting the false spirituality of the Corinthians. True spirituality is demonstrated in love (1 Cor. 13) and in using spiritual gifts for their intended purpose of the common good of the church. That is why throughout this chapter Paul shows the superiority of prophesy as compared to tongues as a mark of true spirituality.

Hope & Change, November 9, 2008. In this Sermon Pastor Harris contrasts the "hope and change" offered by politicians to the true hope we have in God, an absolute confidence that He can and will keep His promises, and the change that He is making in the believer and that He will bring about upon the earth upon His return. Placing your hope in men or a government is ultimately futile. Our only true hope can be in God alone.

Being Loving - 1 Corinthians 13. While love is a beautiful thing, the description of love in this chapter is actually a correction to a church that had become very unloving. Biblical love is the mark of true spirituality. If the love is lacking, then so is the claimed spirituality and piety. The spiritual gifts will either cease or be done away, but love will abide forever. 

Being Unified in the Body - 1 Corinthians 12:12-31, October 19, 2008. In this sermon Pastor Harris explains the nature of the church, the body of Christ, how a person is made part of the body, the responsibilities a believer has to that body and the basis and necessity of unity within that body. He also points out the errors of Pentecostal theology that contradict key verses within this chapter.

The Christian & Politics - Selected Scriptures, September 14, 2008. This sermon gives some basic Biblical principles and precepts by which we can and should evaluate all candidates for any office for any election. Pastor Harris also corrects some widely held misconceptions about separation of church and state in the United States.

Of Every Tribe & Nation - Conforming Culture to Christ - September 7, 2008. In this sermon Pastor Harris presents the Biblical cure for prejudice, bigotry, racism and multiculturalism. A Christian’s identity is to be so bound to Christ that giving primary identification to anything other that Christ is wrong, and that includes ethnic heritage or cultural background. The Christian is to change culture, not be conformed to it. This sermon is NOT politically correct. Read it at the risk of having your own prejudice exposed for the sin that it is. 

Will the Real Men Please Stand Up! -Pastor Scott L. Harris, June 15, 2008. There are many ideas about what it means to be a real man. Pastor Harris exposes the false ideas promoted by our society and gives a clear Biblical description of manliness.

Pastor Harris touched on parables back in the beginning of March.  In case you don't remember, he spoke about how parables were both a mercy and a judgment upon those who would not hear:  judgment, in that they would be kept in the darkness they loved, and mercy in that it would not increase their condemnation for the extra knowledge they would have gotten by hearing.  This morning, I'll be talking about the parable of the sower.  The parable of the sower is a parable that illustrates the distinction of true believers from false believers.  It's an important distinction; one that is a matter of life and death, heaven and hell, so it's vitally important that we understand where we stand before God.

The Messiah is Rejected - Matthew 12-13, Pastor Scott L. Harris. The antagonism between Jesus and the Pharisees reach the point of blasphemy as the Pharisees try to get Jesus to conform to their legalism and Jesus corrects them. Jesus also begins to teach in parables in order to conceal the truth about His kingdom from His enemies while revealing to His followers.

The Messiah’s Call to Worship - John 4:1-26, Pastor Scott L. Harris, February 24, 2008. We are to love those that God loves, for Christians are to be reflections of Jesus, and that includes engaging people in spiritual conversations even if our initial impression of them is that they would not be interested. We need to at least find out. Jesus did this and a whole community came to faith in Him. 

The Messiah's Disciples - Matthew 10, Pastor Harris, February 17, 2008. What sort of person does it take to follow Jesus? What characteristics do you need to have in order to accomplish great things for the cause of Christ? Pastor Harris answers those questions as he examines the men Jesus chose to be His closest companions and the instructions He gave them for ministry.

The Messiah Performs Miracles - Matthew 8 & 9, Pastor Scott L. Harris, Grace Bible Church. In this passage Jesus proves that He is the promised Messiah by demonstrating His power over disease, nature, the supernatural, sin and even death.

The Messiah Begins Ministry - Matthew 3 & 4 & Selected, Pastor Scott L. Harris, January 20, 2007. Jesus continues to demonstrate that He is the Messiah through the fulfillment of prophecies related to John the Baptist, His own submission to all righteousness in His own baptism and in His ministry.

The Arrival of the Promised Messiah - Matthew 1-2, Luke 1-3, Selected Scriptures, Pastor Scott L. Harris,  January 13, 2008.    In this sermon Pastor Harris traces the Old Testament prophecies concerning the coming of the promised Messiah and shows that Jesus is the only one that could fulfill them. He was of the correct blood line while avoiding the cursed blood line; born in the right place at the right time; was without both inherited and personal sin; and demonstrated by His many miracles that He is the Son of God.
