Grace Bible Church

Our Leaders

The leadership structure of Grace Bible Church is based in the Biblical offices of Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses. Our Pastor is the teaching elder with responsibilities in the weekly pulpit ministry and daily administration of the church. All our elders work together in leading the church with the assistance of the Deacons and Deaconess who serve according to the direction of the Elders and take on many of the pragmatic responsibilities so the Elders can concentrate on the ministry of the Word and prayer.

Our Pastor:  Rev. Scott L. Harris is a man committed to the Word of God and to "Equipping the saints for the work of service" (Ephesians 4:12). Pastor Harris relocated here with his wife, Diane, and family in the Spring of 1991 after having served in various capacities in several churches in California. He had Diane have three teenage sons whom they enjoy very much. Two are in High School  and the oldest is in college. Pastor Harris possesses a diverse ministry background including Christian Education, pastoral counseling, prison and rescue ministries, overseas missions in Australia (1988) and teaching the book of Acts at Irpin Seminary, Ukraine in 2006, college campus organizations, youth ministry and summer camp counseling.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biology with a minor in Plant Pathology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1982.  He is a M.Div. graduate of The Master's Seminary (1988) with work also done at Talbot School of Theology, BIOLA University. He has served in a variety of capacities in local, state and national/international pastor's associations including President of the New York Regional of the IFCA International and on the Executive Committee of IFCA International - 2000-2003 (our church's association).

Our Elders: We are raising up additional Elders who will meet the Biblical requirements for this ministry (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:7-9) in being humble servants of the Lord. As they are raised up they will join with Pastor Harris in giving leadership to the church and shepherding the people. At present other church officers serve on an Advisory Council to Pastor Harris in giving leadership to the church and shepherding the people.

Our Deacons & Deaconesses (Women's Servant Council): Our Deacons assist the Elders in giving oversight to the care of the facilities and property, handling the details of financial matters, and caring for needs within the congregation.   Our Deaconesses lead our women's ministries and help shepherd the ladies. Because the term "deaconess" seems to confuse many people for different reasons, they go by the name "Women's Servant Council" which is descriptive of their ministry and responsibilities.
