This morning we come to one of the great texts of Scripture. Some people claim it is great because of the controversy that surrounds it, but controversy is not the basis for making something great. It is great because it describes so clearly the state of man - blind and without understanding - and the mercy of God in intervening into the life of man so that he may come to know the truth. It is a great text because it centers on God's ability to use people that yield themselves to Him.

Beware of Poisoned Religion - Matthew 16:1-12, Pastor Scott L. Harris. Jesus warned his disciples concerning the Pharisees and Sadducees. The Faith of an Outcast - Matthew 15:21-28
Sun, 1994-01-09 19:21 Matthew Study | Sermons 1994The Faith of an Outcast - Matthew 15:21-28, Pastor Scott L. Harris. What kind of faith do you have? There was Peter who had “little faith,” yet was able to do the impossible. There were the multitudes that had enough faith to come to Jesus to be healed of their sicknesses, yet they did not have enough faith to believe His claims that He was the Messiah, and so they left Him. There was the faith of the Pharisees and scribes which was a faith in the traditions that had developed over the centuries that had obscured the Word of God with the precepts of men. There was also the growing faith of Peter who kept pursuing the truth, even if that meant others might think he wasn't very bright for asking such seemingly simple questions. What kind of faith marks your life?
This morning we are going to examine another kind of faith. A faith that Jesus called a “great faith.” It was a faith that was not expected to be found among the gentiles, yet it is the type of faith that characterizes those who truly seek after God.

Religion Versus Real Faith - Matthew 14:34-15:20
Sun, 1994-01-02 21:35 Matthew Study | Sermons 1994Religion Versus Real Faith - Matthew 14:34-15:20. There are many religious people that claim they want to follow God, but the proof of faith is in the actions of life. Jesus exposed the hypocrisy of the Pharisees while still encouraging those who struggled to believe, but genuinely wanted to understand.
