Testimony of Bethany Leak
March 2013
My name is Bethany Leak and I am 15 years old. I have had the wonderful privilege of growing up in a Christian home, with my parents teaching and instructing me in the Scriptures.
I accepted Christ as my Savior on June the 24th, 2002, when I was four years old. Since I didn’t have a complete grasp on exactly what it meant to be completely forgiven and that Christ paid the penalty for ALL my sins, past, present and future, I later struggled with guilt and doubt. I was afraid that every time I sinned that it added up against me and that I was eventually going to lose my salvation.
I was constantly praying that God would save me from my sin and thinking I would have to be saved all over again.
It is impossible for anyone to live even one day without sinning against God. And my good works cannot earn me forgiveness of sin; only through Christ is there assurance of forgiveness of sin and a new life in Christ.
My parents and some wonderful mentors explained and helped me to understand that once I have accepted Christ as my Savior and repented of my sin, then I am completely and wholly forgiven. It is only because Jesus, the Son of God who came to earth and lived a sinless life, died on a cross and bore God’s wrath in my stead, that I have salvation and redemption. My eyes were gradually opened and I am now secure in the promise that God will be faithful to finish what He has started. I can never lose my salvation and no one can ever take away from me.
Christ says in John 10:28-30: “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.”
I am hoping through my life to be diligent in learning and growing in God’s word, and always relying completely on God’s promises. My prayer is to serve in evangelism or mission work and as a child of God, I know that after this life, I will see Him face to face.
John 1:12-13 NKJV “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
